WESTMORELAND MILK GLASS Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania
|
This site contains information on my collection of Westmoreland Milk Glass.
I began collecting the Westmoreland Milk Glass, Paneled Grape Pattern #1881, in the early 1970's, when my husband's grandmother gave me her collection of it, which she had received over the years from my husband's mother and father, as birthday gifts, Mother's Day gifts and Christmas gifts.
While all of it was exquisite, the Punch bowl set that she gave me was absolutely beautiful. It was in the "Fruits" pattern, the only Westmoreland Milk Glass in this pattern, and was given the Westmoreland designation of FR-1, Line #81.
It consists of a five (5) quart Punch Bowl, with a "cupped" rim (they came in cupped, bell or straight rimmed), a Punch Bowl base, twelve (12) Punch Cups and a Line #1800 milk glass ladle.
Over the years I have received gifts of Westmoreland Milk Glass from relatives and friends for birthdays, Mother's Day and Christmas, many from my husband's Aunt Bea, who now lives in Florida.
I have also added to my collection by finding pieces at antique shows, antique stores, flea markets, garage and yard sales, and on the Internet.
You can follow the links below to see my collection, and also see what pieces I am still actively searching for.
If you should happen upon any Westmoreland Milk Glass in the Line #1881 pattern, which is called Paneled Grape, and can pick it up inexpensively I would be more than happy to reimburse you for the cost, as I can use extra pieces to make trades with other collectors.
I also collect a similar line of Westmoreland Milk Glass, designated Line #1884, which is called "Beaded Grape". All of the pieces have a distinctive beading around the edges. My collection of these pieces can also be seen by following the links below.
I recently began collecting another line of Westmoreland Milk Glass, which is designated Line #22, "Beaded Edge", and this collection consists of seven (7) inch milk glass plates, which have a beaded edge around them and hand painted pictures on them.
The pictures are of Fruits, Birds and Flowers, and there are eight (8) different plates in each set. My husband's aunt in Florida sent me nine (9) different plates from her collection for my birthday this year, and I'm now trying to locate the complete set.
