PHONY LICENSE PLATES

These are licenses that some "inventive" motorists thought that they could get by with.  I collected these while an officer with the Wayne Police Department between 1966 and 1992.   And I still collect them when I come upon them.

These seven (7) examples are the only ones that I can find at this time.  Hopefully I'll find others in my "stash" in the barn.

1971 Michigan Motorcycle License Plate With 1972 Michigan Validation Sticker/

Problem with this was, this was not how the 1971 Michigan Motorcycle License Plate was validated.

There were NO validation stickers in 1972.  A new 1972 Michigan Motorcycle license plate was issued !!!!!

1976 Michigan Rear Passenger License Plate

With Homemade 1977 Validation Sticker - Very Crude

1979 Michigan Motorcycle License Plate With Hand-Made 1981 Validation Sticker.  Color was correct, but a little crude.

1981 Michigan Commercial License Plate With Tampered With Validation Sticker - Very Crude

The 1980 Validation sticker looks like it was painted over with "White Out", leaving just the internal code number showing and a crude MICH & 81 painted on the validation sticker

Base 1984 Michigan Motorcycle License Plate With A 1985 Validation Sticker, with a "7" written over the "5" with a "Magic Marker", to fool an officer into thinking it was a valid 1987 license plate.

Yeah, sure...........

Base 1984 Michigan Passenger License Plate With A "Homemade" NOV Month Of Expiration Sticker & A "Homemade "87" Year Sticker Made With A  "Magic Marker"

Base 1984 Michigan Motorcycle License Plate with a 1997 Validation Sticker, with a "98" written over the "97" with a "Magic Marker", to fool an officer into thinking it was a valid 1998 license plate.

Must have worked, as I purchased it at the Fall 2008 MLPCA meet in Flint, Michigan
