OKLAHOMA PERSONALIZED/VANITY LICENSE PLATES |
Authorized in 1967:
For Ten dollars ($10.00) plus registration fee, Oklahomans could order a personalized/vanity license plate to be displayed on their vehicles.
These
plates were available to any person in a combination of numbers or
letters from one (1) to a maximum of seven (7). The message on a
personalized plate must always be in “good taste” and cannot be in
conflict with any valid license plate.
It is believed that the actual first issue was in 1968, as no dated 1967 Oklahoma Personalized license plates have been seen.
From 1968 to 1991, Oklahoma Personalized/Vanity license plates had the same color scheme as regular Oklahoma passenger license plates.
In 1992, all Oklahoma Personalized/Vanity license plates began using BLACK numerals and letters, and the registrant could choose from six (6) background colors:
Chamois (beige), Sand, Sea Green, Gray, Sky Blue, or White.
