SNOWMOBILES

Persons under 12 years of age may not operate a SNOWMOBILE without direct supervision of a parent or guardian.
Persons 12 to 17 years of age may operate a SNOWMOBILE if they have a VALID Snowmobile Safety Certificate in their immediate possession or are under the direct supervision of a person 21 years of age or older.
Snowmobiles must be registered with the State of Michigan or the State where the owner resides. Snowmobiles are not titled in the State of Michigan. They are registered for a 1 year period, and expire on September 30 of the year on the decal.
It is believed that they were first required to be registered in the State of Michigan in the early 1970’s.
The back of the decal, prior to being attached to the SNOWMOBILE has mounting instructions for the decal. You can read what they basically say from the image shown below.
Fom inception until July 1, 1999, the decals were 1 1/2" x 6" in size
After July 1, 1999, the registration decals were 3" x 6", and included the Snowmobile Registration Number on them.
