2005 RANDALL BONER MEMORIAL GOLF & POKER SYMPOSIUM
|
The
Florida/Michigan Golf & Poker Symposium was renamed "The Randall Boner Memorial
Golf & Poker Symposium" in 2002, in honor or Randall. In late December
2001, Randall was diagnosed with cancer, which he fought until he passed away on
February 2, 2002. We've all lost a GREAT friend and a GREAT golfing
partner.

Well,
our 2004 Outing was a WASHOUT !!! Hurricane Jeanne chased us out of the
Orlando area after our tune-up rounds at Ridgewood Lakes, and after it blew
through, the Kenilworth Lodge in Orlando sustained quite a bit of damage.
In addition, many of our golfers couldn't make it to Florida, and some who
did, turned right around and went right back home. So, it was a total
WASHOUT !!!
So now we'll get ready for the 2005 outing and hope that the weather cooperates with us.
As you can see, the dates have been set for our 12th annual golf outing and poker symposium, to be held again in 2005 at the "Grand " Kenilworth Lodge in old, historic Sebring, Florida. The "tune-up" rounds on Friday and Saturday will be played at a golf course to be announced later.
We will be staying at the Lodge from Sunday, October 2, 2005 through Wednesday, October 5, 2005 . 4 days of golf again this year !!! Had to move it back one week, as my High School Class Reunion is set for the weekend of September 23, 24 and 25, 2005, and I have been on the reunion committee since our first 10th year reunion in 1969.
As the 2004 outing was washed out, the money that everyone sent in fir their deposit for the 2004 outing, less the deposit that I paid to the Kenilworth Lodge is still in the bank and will be applied to the 2005 outing. Those that can't make the 2005 outing, who paid a deposit for 2004, will receive a refund of their deposit.
So, at this time, August 15, 2005, I have forty-eight (48) players for 2005, as some of the original fifty-six (56) players who paid a deposit for 2004 have asked for a return of their deposit.
If anyone wishes a return of their deposit, let me know. I will add alternates into the open slots of those that can't join us in 2005. Click on the link below to see who has already paid their deposits, and who has said that the "check's in the mail"..
We have secured all the "efficiencies" around the pool again this year, as well as all of the "villas" just beyond the pool, a couple of the apartments on the next street over from the Lodge and some rooms inside the Lodge.
I have to inform the Lodge of a final count NO LATER than July 15, 2005.
The $100.00 deposit is as follows: $25 is for the room & golf deposits and $75 is for the prize money.
Click HERE to see who's in. Any others who wish to join us this year will be placed on the "ALTERNATES LIST", and if we get FOUR (4) more Alternates, we'll add another foursome.
Those canceling their spot before September 1, 2005, will get a refund. Those canceling AFTER September 1, 2005, will receive a refund of their deposit IF we can fill the spot before the golf outing begins.
I will try to contact those alternates I haven’t heard from, but I wouldn’t count on it. If you don’t get me the deposit, you may not be in this year.
GET YOUR DEPOSIT IN EARLY (and often)!!!!!
The "HOLE-IN-ONE" pool is growing. We nearly had to pay it out in 2003, as two golfers just missed a hole in one. A link to it is shown below.
NOTE:
For those of you who lug along your computer on trips, like my son and I, you'll find that the Kenilworth Lodge has added some amenities since our last stay.
They've added complimentary high-speed wireless Internet access in ALL of their guest rooms. Finally, "surfing" is allowed out by the heated swimming pool! They even went a little more "high-tech" and added a mini business center in the lobby (with a 2nd workstation being added any day). For a finishing touch, they also expanded their satellite TV programming, adding a total of 5 FREE premium movie channels and 6 dedicated sports channels.
And, this year, because of the damage to the courses by the hurricanes, there will be no carts available at any of the courses, but the courses will supply us with caddies. Here is a photo of some of the "caddie corp"
