These plates are issued to people who are physically challenged Disabled American Veterans, and allows them to park in handicapped/disabled person parking places
They were first issued with the 1979 white on black base license plate.
The letter "V" designates these as Disabled Veterans License Plates, and was the prefix letter from 1979 until 1983.
With the issuance of the white on blue base, first issued for 1984, the letter "V" became the suffix
From 1997 to present, on the "BRIDGE GRAPHIC" base, also known as the "GREAT LAKES SPLENDOR" base, as well as the "Blue Bar" base, first issued in January 2007, and the "SPECTACULAR PENINSULAS Graphic" base, also first issued in January 2007, the words "DISABLED VETERAN" are across the bottom of the license plate, and the serial number of the license plate is in this format: DV 000 A
The size of these plates are the standard 12" x 6"
